Harmonized System (HS)
An international standardized system of names and numbers to classify traded products, maintained by the World Customs Organization.
Understanding Harmonized System (HS)
The Harmonized System uses a 6-digit coding system that is used worldwide. Individual countries then extend these codes — the US uses 10-digit HTS codes. The first 2 digits identify the chapter, the next 2 the heading, and the next 2 the subheading.
